  • Chris Chambers (WR) San Diego Chargers

    Updated 10/10/08 5:59 PM

Chambers was listed as doubtful because of a sprained left ankle and may miss Sunday night's game against the New England Patriots.

Impacts: Chambers sprained his ankle during last Sunday's loss to the Miami Dolphins and didn't practice this week. He was unsure if he would test the ankle during warmups on Sunday. Coach Norv Turner said Chambers' availability would be a game-time decision.

  • Carson Palmer (QB) Cincinnati Bengals

    Updated 10/10/08 5:30 PM

Cincinnati Bengals coach Marvin Lewis says quarterback Carson Palmer will not start Sunday's game against the New York Jets because of a sore right elbow but that he could play.

Impacts: Backup Ryan Fitzpatrick will get his second start of the season for the Bengals. He started against the Cleveland Browns two weeks ago, the week after Palmer injured his elbow in a loss to the New York Giants and threw three interceptions and lost a fumble while being sacked.

  • Aaron Rodgers (QB) Green Bay Packers

    Updated 10/10/08 4:18 PM

Despite not making a single throw in practice this week, Rodgers is prepared to start for the Green Bay Packers on Sunday at Seattle.

Impacts: Coach Mike McCarthy said the team made a medical decision to keep Rodgers, who has a sprained right shoulder, from throwing in practice Friday. The Packers listed Rodgers as probable on their injury report. "I feel like I'm going to be able to be good for Sunday,'' Rodgers said Friday. "I would've liked to do a little throwing, but I did as much as I could (in practice) with the run game and took the mental reps. I feel good about the game plan and my preparation.''

  • Antonio Pierce (MLB) New York Giants

    Updated 10/10/08 3:57 PM

Pierce plans to play against the Cleveland Browns on Monday despite missing two straight practices with a thigh injury.

Impacts: Pierce was vague when asked how he hurt his thigh, but indicated it probably happened when he was running during the Giants' 44-6 win over the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday. "I will never miss a game unless I am on IR, so I'll be there,'' Pierce said Friday. "We expect Pierce will work tomorrow," coach Tom Coughlin said. "Right now we are expecting that he will go."

  • Mike Walker (WR) Jacksonville Jaguars

    Updated 10/10/08 3:38 PM

The Jaguars will be without Walker for Sunday's game at Denver.

Impacts: Walker, who has 12 catches for 161 yards, injured his knee against Pittsburgh last Sunday and was listed as out. "We're going to get him rested up and have him coming out of the bye week," coach Jack Del Rio said Friday. "He has been a big help both receiving and on special teams."

  • Adrian Wilson (SS) Arizona Cardinals

    Updated 10/10/08 3:38 PM

Wilson has been fined $25,000 by the NFL for a hit on Buffalo quarterback Trent Edwards last Sunday.

Impacts: Wilson hit Edwards on the third play of last week's game. The hit was not helmet-to-helmet, but Edwards suffered a concussion and did not return to the game. No penalty was called on the play. Wilson said Friday that league officials also put him on notice he may face heavier fines or a suspension for future incidents.

  • Erin Henderson (OLB) Minnesota Vikings

    Updated 10/10/08 3:38 PM

Henderson returned to practice Friday for the first time since suffering a concussion on Monday night against New Orleans.

Impacts: Henderson's practice was limited and he's questionable for Minnesota's game Sunday against Detroit. The Vikings are thin at linebacker after losing E.J. Henderson for the season a week ago, and could use his little brother on special teams.

  • Kellen Winslow (TE) Cleveland Browns

    Updated 10/10/08 3:38 PM

Winslow will spend a second night in the hospital with an undisclosed illness that could keep him out of Monday night's game against the New York Giants.

Impacts: Coach Romeo Crennel said Friday that Winslow was kept overnight at the Cleveland Clinic. Winslow had been feeling ill for several days and the team sent him to the doctor Thursday for further tests and evaluation. Crennel had expected the 25-year-old player to be discharged on Friday, but team spokesman Bill Bonsiewicz said Winslow will remain hospitalized. Citing patient privacy laws, Crennel did not provide specifics on Winslow's illness.

  • Roddy White (WR) Atlanta Falcons

    Updated 10/10/08 3:38 PM

The Falcons listed White as questionable for Sunday's game against Chicago after the receiver missed a second straight practice Friday.

Impacts: White, whose 454 yards receiving rank third in the league, was knocked out of Wednesday's practice after hitting his head in a collision with safety Lawyer Milloy. White said, "I'm OK. It's no big deal," after he missed Thursday's practice, but he was held out again Friday. White He established himself as the team's top receiver in 2007 when he set career highs with 83 receptions for 1,202 yards and six touchdowns.

  • Matt Hasselbeck (QB) Seattle Seahawks

    Updated 10/10/08 3:38 PM

Hasselbeck has not been cleared to play against Green Bay, meaning the Seahawks will likely start Charlie Frye against the Packers.

Impacts: Coach Mike Holmgren made the announcement after practice on Friday. Hasselbeck was again a spectator watching practice wearing a neon green baseball hat, while Frye took the majority of the snaps. Hasselbeck bruised his right knee last Sunday against the New York Giants. Holmgren said earlier this week that Hasselbeck "has to play'' for the 1-3 Seahawks. He says there still is a chance Hasselbeck will be cleared for Sunday's game.

  • Jason Taylor (DE) Washington Redskins

    Updated 10/10/08 3:38 PM

Taylor practiced for the second straight day Friday and appears set to play in Sunday's game against the St. Louis Rams.

Impacts: Taylor has missed two games since undergoing surgery on his left calf Sept. 22. He returned to practice Thursday wearing a titanium pad to protect the stitches in his leg. "I don't know if he's going to start, but he's going to participate,'' coach Jim Zorn said.

  • Derek Stanley (WR) St. Louis Rams

    Updated 10/10/08 3:19 PM

The Rams promoted Stanley from the practice squad Friday, while Dane Looker said additional tests on his brain after a spot was found have not yet revealed answers.

Impacts: St. Louis plays at Washington after a bye week that saw a coaching change from Scott Linehan to Jim Haslett. Haslett said the Rams moved up Stanley when it became clear Looker would be inactive for the game. The 5-foot-11, 179-pound Stanley, who signed a contract Friday, played in the final three games as a rookie in 2007 and returned kickoffs. He also saw some time as a receiver but did not have any receptions. He did have one rush for 5 yards.

  • Dane Looker (WR) St. Louis Rams

    Updated 10/10/08 3:19 PM

Looker said additional tests on his brain after a spot was found have not yet revealed answers.

Impacts: Looker said he had an angiogram Thursday. The additional test was taken to try and rule out an aneurysm after a CAT scan that cleared him from a concussion revealed a brain abnormality. "We don't know for sure right now what it is,'' Looker said. "We're going to take some tests and see what it is. I'll meet with the doctor on Tuesday, and he'll talk to some more doctors. I'm good. I'm not playing this week, but I'm hopeful about the future.''

  • Brian Westbrook (RB) Philadelphia Eagles

    Updated 10/10/08 3:19 PM

Westbrook will miss his second game in three weeks when the Philadelphia Eagles visit San Francisco on Sunday.

Impacts: Westbrook broke two ribs in the Eagles' 23-17 loss to Washington last Sunday, though he kept playing and finished the game. He should return on Oct. 26 after a bye week.

  • Chris Chambers (WR) San Diego Chargers

    Updated 10/9/08 9:13 PM

Impacts: Chambers said he can't remember a similar injury putting him on the sideline. "It really doesn't compare because I haven't had much the last two, three years,'' Chambers said. "In the offseason, you may tweak a hamstring, you may do something but the offseason's nothing. Whereas getting it in the thick of the season, I haven't had this come up in an awful long time so I just gotta manage it the best way I can.''

  • Matt Hasselbeck (QB) Seattle Seahawks

    Updated 10/9/08 5:46 PM

Hasselbeck didn't practice again on Thursday, but the team says he'll still play on Sunday against Green Bay.

Impacts: Offensive coordinator Gil Haskell reiterated Hasselbeck will play even if he doesn't practice Friday, but Haskell would prefer Hasselbeck got one day of work in this week with a jumbled receiving corps. Haskell was asked if Seattle's starter since 2002, who set most of the team's passing records for a season in 2007 but is the NFC's lowest-rated passer this season, is one guy who doesn't need to practice to play.

  • Jason Taylor (DE) Washington Redskins

    Updated 10/9/08 4:33 PM

Taylor practiced Thursday for the first time since the emergency surgery on his left calf.

Impacts: Taylor did not take part in all of the drills, and the team was going to be cautious about playing him Sunday against St. Louis. The leg still has stitches, which Taylor protected during practice by wearing a titanium pad underneath a knee-high black sock. "It's better than it was yesterday, better than it was a week ago, and hopefully tomorrow will be another step forward and I won't swell up too much," Taylor said.

  • Kellen Winslow (TE) Cleveland Browns

Impacts: Jones was fully reinstated in August by commissioner Roger Goodell after the cornerback served a 17-month suspension for an accumulation of arrests and legal problems. Impacts: Freeney, a three-time Pro Bowler and former league sacks champ, has constantly fought nagging injuries since his rookie season and missed the second half of last season after undergoing foot surgery. • Marlin Jackson (CB) Indianapolis Colts

    Updated 10/9/08 12:56 PM

Jackson sprained his ankle Sunday against Houston, and did not practice Wednesday.

Impacts: Colts team officials initially feared Jackson had a high-ankle sprain that typically sidelines players four to six weeks. "He'll be fine," coach Tony Dungy said. "I can't speak for Marlin, but I think he'll be fine." Indianapolis plays the Ravens Sunday.
