Who should I start in Week 1 - Robert Griffin III or Michael Vick? - @yung_lerrr4 (via Twitter)
Michael Fabiano:RGIII is starting for the Redskins, so he should be starting for your fantasy team in most cases. So while Vick has seen his value rise in the preseason, he's still not on the same level of the second-year signal-caller out of Baylor. Also keep in mind that the Eagles defense looked pretty bad in the preseason, so this is a nice matchup for Griffin III.
I'm in a 12-team PPR league and need to retain either Chris Johnson or Maurice Jones-Drew. I am already keeping LeSean McCoy. Thoughts? - B. Yang (via Facebook)
M.F.: I'd hold on to CJ2K. Both players are pretty close in value from an age and production standpoint, but Jones-Drew is coming off a major foot ailment and isn't as durable as Johnson overall.
Should I start Aaron Rodgers or Matt Ryan in Week 1? - @KGoldsmith87 (via Twitter)
M.F.: Ryan has the much more attractive matchup (at Saints) of the two quarterbacks, but I stick with my stars -- that means I would be starting Rodgers even against the 49ers. Unless this is a smaller league, I would also look to deal one of these two quarterbacks to improve a weaker position on your roster. You don't want to have one of two valuable assets riding the pine week in and week out.
Which running back is the better Week 1 option - Lamar Miller or David Wilson? - E. Olivas (via Facebook)
M.F.: I like Miller's matchup a lot this week -- he faces a Browns defense that allowed an averaged of almost 20 fantasy points per game to running backs last season. With that being said, I would still go with Wilson. He's the more attractive and explosive option, especially now that he'll see more of a featured role in the absence of Andre Brown.
Which wide receiver should I start in Week 1 - Randall Cobb or Mike Wallace? - @Scubasteve003 (via Twitter)
M.F.: Cobb is the clear option of these two wide receivers, despite a tough matchup in San Francisco. You could argue that Wallace's game against the Browns and cornerback Joe Haden is just as tough -- if not tougher. In fact, Cleveland's defense allowed more than 10 fewer fantasy points to wide receivers on their home field compared to road contests last year.
What are your thoughts on Greg Jennings this season? - M. Powers (via Facebook)
M.F.: I actually have Jennings in several of my fantasy leagues, but he's no more than the third-best wideout on any of those rosters. I drafted him with the expectation that his numbers are going to drop compared to his days in Green Bay, where he was a No. 1 fantasy wide receiver with Aaron Rodgers throwing him the ball. So while I don't love him, I don't think he's a terrible third option in 2013.
Who should I start at flex this week between Giovani Bernard and Daryl Richardson? - @Sinnistergrin (via Twitter)
M.F.: I'm going with the runner I know is going to see touches this week, and that's Richardson. With Isaiah Pead out of action due to a league-imposed suspension, Richardson will be the main man in the backfield for coach Jeff Fisher. So as much as I like Bernard as a potential sleeper, I'd like to see what sort of role he's slated for against a tough Bears defense.
What do you think about Heath Miller? He was solid last season - should I pick him up off waivers? - J. Miller (via Facebook)
M.F.: Miller isn't going to be back on the gridiron for about a month or so, and he's not good enough to be considered a fantasy roster stash unless you're in a deep league or have injured spots. Sure, he had a solid season in 2012 -- but at the age of 30 and coming off a major, late-season knee ailment, he's no lock to return to his former statistical level.
Which defense is a better option in Week 1: the Tampa Bay Buccaneers or the Indianapolis Colts? - @eatyourcilantro (via Twitter)
M.F.: Nice Twitter handle -- did you know that some people have a trait that makes cilantro taste like soap? I have and will not be eating that awful green stuff. OK, back to fantasy football, both of these defenses are great options in Week 1 based on the matchups. However, I give the edge to the Buccaneers who will face rookie Geno Smith and the Jets. Assuming there are no bonus points for butt fumbles, this unit should produce.
Which running back should I start in Week 1 based on the matchups - Mark Ingram, Chris Ivory, Rashard Mendenhall or Isaac Redman? - P. Conroy (via Facebook)
M.F.: Ivory didn't do a whole lot in the preseason, but he's the running back to start. This has nothing to do with the matchup, which isn't a favorable one on paper, but I feel like Ivory has the best chance to see plenty of touches against the Bucs. I can't say the same thing about Ingram or Redman, and Mendenhall isn't someone I trust behind a questionable offensive line.
