Dallas Cowboys tight ends coach John Garrett, the older brother of new head coach Jason Garrett, is expected to talk with the Dolphins about their offensive coordinator job, the *Miami Herald* reported Tuesday.
NFL Network insider Jason La Canfora cited a league source in reporting that Garrett will meet with the Dolphins on Wednesday.
John Garrett has been a Cowboys position coach the past four seasons, and he isn't under contract for 2011. Jason Garrett has said he intends to function as both the Cowboys' head coach and offensive coordinator this season, so it's unlikely his brother would advance his career by remaining in Dallas.
John Garrett has worked with Dolphins coach Tony Sparano before. They were on the same staff in Miami in 2007 when Garrett was a quality control coach before heading to Dallas.
Dolphins coach Tony Sparano is in the market for an offensive coordinator after Dan Henning decided not to return.
*The San Diego Union-Tribune* reported Monday that Chargers tight ends/assistant head coach Rob Chudzinski also has received permission to interview for the Dolphins' offensive coordinator job. Chudzinski, a former Cleveland Browns offensive coordinator, also could be in the running for a similar role in Carolina after Chargers defensive coordinator Ron Rivera was selected as the Panthers' new head coach Tuesday, according to The Union-Tribune.
Former Browns offensive coordinator Chris Palmer also is a candidate in Miami, according to La Canfora.
