Reid: Teams have shown interest in Eagles backup QB Kolb

Philadelphia coach Andy Reid says teams have already expressed interest in quarterback Kevin Kolb, but the Eagles are in no hurry to part with their backup.

"As this thing picks up, I'm sure it will continue," Reid told the team's official website on Thursday. "He's ours. Everything else from there is easy.

"It's kind of like what I said last year (about Donovan McNabb). If people are interested, they'll come to you. But on the other hand, do we love Kevin Kolb? Are you kidding me?"

Kolb has one year left on his contract, and has let it be known that he wants to be a starting quarterback next season. Beyond that, however, very little is known about his future in Philadelphia, or elsewhere.

While the Eagles appear set with Michael Vick as their starter, Reid made it clear he values Kolb, who threw for 1,197 yards, with seven touchdowns and seven interceptions in seven games last season.

"(Kolb) is a hell of a football player," Reid said. "You look at his numbers and the things he did when he had the opportunity to start ... all the 300-yard games he put together and the way he commands the offense and all these things, you're not in a big hurry to get rid of Kevin Kolb."

Vick, 30, signed a one-year contract with the Eagles after being designated the team's franchise player. He set career highs in passing yards (3,018), touchdown passes (21), rushing touchdowns (nine), completion percentage (62.6) and passer rating (100.2) last season, less than two years after he was released from a federal-prison sentence on dogfighting charges.
