Offensive coordinator Mike Martz has declined a contract extension from the Bears, the *Chicago Sun-Times* reported Tuesday, citing a source.
Martz, whose two-year, $2 million contract expires after the 2011 season, was offered a one-year extension for the same $1 million annual salary.
Though the Bears finished 30th in the NFL in offense, they went 7-2 down the stretch en route to winning the NFC North and reaching the NFC Championship Game.
Martz altered his scheme after it became apparent the Bears' offensive line problems could threaten quarterback Jay Cutler's health and well-being. Cutler was sacked an NFL-record nine times in the first half of a game against the New York Giants before leaving with a concussion. Cutler went down 52 times in all last season.
Cutler did, however, win his first NFL playoff game under Martz's tutelage.
