GREEN BAY, Wis. -- Former Green Bay Packers cornerback Brandon Underwood has pleaded no contest to a reduced charged stemming from a dispute with his estranged wife.
Underwood was scheduled for a one-day trial next week on a misdemeanor count of disorderly conduct. But online court records indicate the charge was reduced to a noncriminal offense and the 25-year-old paid a $767.50 fine Wednesday.
The Green Bay Press-Gazette reported Underwood had faced up to 90 days in jail and a fine up to $1,000 if convicted of the misdemeanor.
Underwood was accused of ripping a necklace off his wife, Brandie Underwood, outside their home after the Super Bowl ring ceremony June 16. The Packers gave necklaces to players' wives.
The Packers released Underwood this month. He was a sixth-round draft pick in 2009.
