T.O. reportedly hospitalized last week for medical emergency

Terrell Owens was hospitalized Thursday in Los Angeles and later released after an unidentified person called 911 to report a medical emergency at an apartment where the free-agent wide receiver had been staying, TMZ.com reported Monday.

The website later cited law enforcement sources in reporting that officials were responding to a possible prescription pill overdose. Police spoke to Owens at the hospital before he was released.

An Owens rep had no comment when contacted by TMZ.com.

The 37-year-old receiver said Wednesday that he plans on playing this season despite still working to recover from a torn anterior cruciate ligament. He had 983 yards and nine touchdowns for the Cincinnati Bengals last season but hasn't been able to find a new team this year.

Owens ranks second on the NFL's all-time list in receiving yards (15,934) and tied for second in touchdowns (153) with Randy Moss.
