As you prepare for Week 6 action, we quickly step in with your daily LeBron James update.
The NBA superstar was expected to be at Ford Field on Sunday to take in the San Francisco 49ers-Detroit Lions game, according to NFL Network's Albert Breer.
This is the latest connection to the NFL for James, who has made several (presumably tongue-in-cheek) allusions to a football career with the NBA stuck in a labor dispute. James suited up in full pads to practice with his old high school team two weeks ago, then tweeted an ESPN reporter to find out the deadline for NFL teams to sign free agents.
Most recently, James was in an aggressively flirtacious Twitter exchange with Pete Carroll, leading the Seattle Seahawks coach to post a photo of a jersey with "LeBron" stitched on the back.
No word on why LeBron chose to visit Detroit, especially since he was in England on Saturday for the Liverpool-Manchester United match, but the matchup between the 49ers and Lions, two of the league's hottest teams, might be the obvious theory. A less obvious but more intriguing possibility is the thought of James signing with the Lions to line up opposite Calvin Johnson. Megatron and King James: Who do you double team?
