Running back LaDainian Tomlinson will make his first start of the season Sunday when the New York Jets face his former team, the San Diego Chargers.
Tomlinson is the best running back in Chargers history, a record-setter during his nine seasons in San Diego and the 2006 NFL MVP. His exit from the team after the 2009 season wasn't particularly pleasant, though, as it became clear he would have a reduced role.

Still, Tomlinson did his best to downplay the storyline Thursday and wouldn't respond to questions about any ill feelings toward the Chargers.
"I'm not a guy who holds grudges or tries to prove anyone wrong," Tomlinson said. "I don't have time for that. It's nonsense.
"I had a great nine years there, and I don't want to make it more than it is."
Many of the Jets -- including offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer and teammate Santonio Holmes -- seem to see it differently.
"He's such a pro, he'll be business as usual and will be trying to make plays and contribute as much as he can," Schottenheimer said. "He's truly the leader on offense, the guy who has the passion and the enthusiasm. This will be special with him."
Holmes, who also joined the Jets last season, said he has some extra motivation to make sure Tomlinson has a big game.
"I'm super excited. I hope he gets out there and rushes for over 200 yards on Sunday," Holmes said. "It'll definitely be my duty to make sure I block those guys down the field, so that he can get his job done."
