CALABASAS, Calif. -- Drew Rosenhaus, the agent for Terrell Owens, said the free-agent wide receiver's media workout Tuesday stemmed in part because the Tennessee Titans wouldn't commit to a private session.
Rosenhaus said he had spoken to the Titans about Owens, but when Tennessee balked at the idea, his camp believed a media workout at a suburban Los Angeles high school was appropriate to showcase the readiness of the 37-year-old receiver.

No NFL team sent a representative to observe Owens, whose surgically repaired knee looked fine during the hour-long workout. Owens is recovering from anterior cruciate ligament surgery on his left knee, and Tuesday was his first public workout since the June operation.
Owens told NFL Network that he wasn't concerned about the absence of scouts at his workout.
"I only need one team (to be interested), I only need one chance," said Owens.
Owens was regularly winded throughout the workout and clearly isn't in football shape. He looked stronger, however, on the final three or four routes of the 15 that he ran, which were deeper routes.
"With what I did today, it should open some eyes," Owens said.
Owens' workout included a scripted agility session and pass-catching drills, led by noted Bay Area trainer Raymond Farris. Casey Hansen, a former Norfolk State quarterback who played in the Arena Football League, threw passes to Owens. They threw together Friday and Saturday, giving them some familiarity.
Owens' training staff and representation were prepared for the possibility teams wouldn't attend, so they had a film crew taping the workout. They plan to send it to all 32 teams, Rosenhaus said.
"I just watched Terrell go through a full football workout and he looked awesome!" Rosenhaus later tweeted. "He is 100% healthy & ready to play right now!"
"I will be contacting the teams today to inform them that is immediately available to visit and work out for them," Rosenhaus added. He could play this Sunday!"
One general manager I spoke to said his team has no interest in Owens and doesn't believe many teams would. But, the GM added, he has felt this way about Owens before and the receiver has kept finding work.
Owens, a 15-year veteran, spent last season with the Cincinnati Bengals and finished with 72 receptions for 983 yards and nine touchdowns. He ranks second on the NFL's all-time list in receiving yards (15,934), is tied for second with Randy Moss in touchdown catches (153) and is sixth in receptions (1,078).
