New Orleans Saints cornerback Tracy Porter believes he has a legitimate chance to play this weekend against the Atlanta Falcons, a league source said Monday.
Porter was carted off the field Sunday against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and the injury appeared serious. Though Porter remains sore, tests came back favorable, and the cornerback is optimistic about being back this weekend.
"He's in the training room now. All the tests came back negative," Saints coach Sean Payton said at his Monday news conference. "Basically, he's dealing with some chest and upper back soreness from the collision. But all the news with his injury is positive, so that's encouraging."
Porter was injured during a first-quarter collision with Bucs wide receiver Mike Williams.
