The Pittsburgh Steelers don't expect linebacker LaMarr Woodley to play Sunday night in Kansas City, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
Woodley, who has nine sacks on the season despite missing Pittsburgh's last two games with a hamstring injury, told reporters Monday that he did "a few things" at Monday's practice, the Steelers' first after their bye week.
"Every day, you just push it a little more," Woodley said, according to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. "The worst thing about a hamstring injury is that they take time to heal. If you take a look at guys across the league -- coming back too early, sometimes -- the next thing you know, they're out two to three more weeks. Those injuries can do those types of things, so you have to be careful."
Officially, Woodley is listed as day-to-day. He hurt the hamstring in the Steelers' Oct. 30 victory over the New England Patriots.
Meanwhile, quarterback Ben Roethlisberger practiced with a splint under his glove Monday to protect his fractured thumb and admitted there's a twinge when he takes the snap.
"It's definitely different," Roethlisberger said. "It hurts, first off, just to grip the ball. It's something you have to get used to. I want to get some reps, I wanted to throw some (today)."
Roethlisberger expects to play Sunday, even if it means making a few adjustments to the playbook.
He didn't take a snap from under center Monday, instead opting to work out of the shotgun and pistol formations to protect the thumb from getting smacked by a direct snap from center Maurkice Pouncey.
