Lions DT Suh's appeal heard by ex-Raiders coach Art Shell

NEW YORK -- Detroit Lions defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh has had his appeal heard of a two-game suspension for stomping on an opponent.

Art Shell, jointly appointed by the league and the players' association to hear such cases, has conducted a conference call Thursday, but set no timetable for making a decision.

The 2010 Defensive Rookie of the Year was penalized and ejected from a Thanksgiving Day loss to Green Bay for stomping on the arm of Packers guard Evan Dietrich-Smith. On Tuesday, the league handed down the two-game suspension and Suh immediately appealed.

The Lions are playing Sunday in New Orleans and the league expedited Suh's hearing so the team could know about his availability for that game. Shell's decision could come Friday.
