New Orleans Saints rookie running back Mark Ingram could be in danger of being shelved for the season.
Ingram missed practice again Thursday after suffering a setback with his lingering turf toe injury, Saints coach Sean Payton said. Ingram has missed the last three games, and it now appears likely he will miss Sunday's season finale against the Carolina Panthers, according to the Times-Picayune, as well as the Saints' playoff run.
"We just got to wait until it's healthy," Payton said. "It's real simple."
Working against Ingram, a first-round draft pick, returning is Chris Ivory's performance in his place. Ivory has rushed for 162 yards and is averaging 4.1 yards per carry in the last three games as part of the running back rotation with Darren Sproles and Pierre Thomas.
In other Saints injury news, wide receiver Lance Moore (hamstring) and tight end John Gilmore (toe) also missed practice Thursday. However, safety Malcolm Jenkins (neck) and linebacker Jonathan Vilma (knee) returned on a limited basis.
