Reports: Fins have interest in Jets' Pettine; Scott likely gone

The fate of offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer was already in doubt for the New York Jets, but could the team end up in the market for a new defensive coordinator as well?

Mike Pettine has drawn interest from the Miami Dolphins for their head coaching position, the New York Daily News reported on Monday morning, citing a source.

The Jets' defense regressed this season, but Pettine -- who just completed his third season in New York -- is well regarded. He took over playcalling duties from from Ryan this season, a supreme vote of confidence given Ryan's reputation as a defensive coach.

Another potential change on defense could come at linebacker, where the team is expected to cut ties with Bart Scott, according to Newsday. The 31-year-old Scott lost playing time to Josh Mauga as his production slipped. In 16 games, Scott made just 66 tackles, his lowest total since he was a young Raven in 2004. He is due $5.6 million in 2012.

Meanwhile, general manager Mike Tannenbaum will join Rex Ryan in speaking with the media on Monday, another sign change is in the air following one of the most disappointing seasons in franchise history.
