Niners OC Roman says Penn State would be 'lifetime job'

While the San Francisco 49ers are preparing for the playoffs as the NFC's No. 2 seed, offensive coordinator Greg Roman is publicly expressing interest in the head-coaching position at Penn State University.

Roman told WENJ-FM in Atlantic City, N.J., that the Penn State position is "something I'd definitely consider strongly," according to the San Jose Mercury News.

The position, Roman said, "is a lifetime job. That's a job if I were to become the head coach there, I wouldn't leave there."

But, Roman added, he "love(s)" his current job in San Francisco.

"I love the (49ers) organization here," he said. "I love how it's structured. I love how we interact. I love how we solve problems.

"My focus is 100 percent on winning the next game for the 49ers," Roman added. "You got to win to stay alive now, and we have to be at our best."

His agent had previously confirmed that Roman is a finalist for the position. Longtime Nittany Lions coach Joe Paterno was fired after sex-abuse charges were filed against former assistant Jerry Sandusky.
