Buccaneers considering Schiano for head-coaching job

Rutgers coach Greg Schiano is under consideration for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers head-coaching job, according to a source with knowledge of the situation.

Former Green Bay Packers coach Mike Sherman, who we reported would get a second interview with the team, is also in the running. Tampa Bay's ownership is still discussing possibilities, including a second interview for Carolina Panthers offensive coordinator Rob Chudzinski.

Schiano has been at Rutgers for 11 seasons. His background is primarily in college football, including stints at the University of Miami and Penn State, but he did spend time with the Chicago Bears, serving as a defensive assistant from 1996 to 1997 and as a defensive backfield coach in 1998.
