Jacobs willing to restructure contract to stay with Giants

Brandon Jacobs reiterated Monday that he wants to return to the Super Bowl champion New York Giants next season.

However, if that doesn't happen, the running back said he doesn't plan to retire and would consider the New York Jets as a possible destination -- even after his angry postgame words with coach Rex Ryan in December.

"I want to be a Giant," Jacobs told The New York Times on Monday while promoting his upcoming professional wrestling show.

Jacobs, 29, is scheduled to receive in March a $500,000 bonus that could force the Giants to release him.

As for possibly playing for Jets coach Rex Ryan, Jacobs told the newspaper: "It was a situation. We were rivals then. There's no apology needed.

"I like the way Rex handles his business. The guys on that team I know, know how I feel."

Jacobs, who reworked his contract last offseason to help the Giants retain running back Ahmad Bradshaw, said he is open to a similar arrangement this year.

Jacobs carried the ball 152 times for 571 yards and seven touchdowns last season.
