Niners reportedly want to keep Morgan from free agency

Anticipating that he could be one of their most prized free agents come Tuesday, the San Francisco 49ers are aggressively trying to re-sign wide receiver Josh Morgan, the Sacramento Bee reported Sunday.

Morgan, who will turn 27 in June, caught 15 passes for 220 yards and one touchdown before suffering a fractured leg and being lost for the season in Week 5. He has 131 catches for 1,764 yards and nine touchdowns in four seasons with the 49ers.

While Morgan hasn't had impressive numbers, the Bee reported that he's admired by the 49ers and around the league for his steadiness, blocking and work ethic and that it's believed his statistics result from the 49ers' average passing attack rather than his ability.

NFL Network insider Jason La Canfora reported Sunday that the 49ers will bring in veteran wideout Randy Moss for a visit on Monday.

San Francisco has only two receivers -- Michael Crabtree and Kyle Williams -- under contract for next season. Ted Ginn Jr. and Brett Swain are expected to become free agents.
