The Ravens have agreed to terms on a six-year deal with cornerback Lardarius Webb, the team announced Thursday.
Webb's deal is worth $50 million, including a $10 million signing bonus, according to NFL Network's Albert Breer. NFL Network insider Jason La Canfora reports Webb's deal includes over $20 million guaranteed, according to a league source. Webb was a restricted free agent, and the Ravens used a first-round tender on Webb, which would have guaranteed him a $2.74 million contract, according to the team site.
"Lardarius is an important player for the Ravens and we're very happy he will be with us for a long time," General Manager Ozzie Newsome told the team's official site.
"We have a good history of completing second contracts for targeted players we want to keep for the long haul," Newsome added. "We did that recently with Jameel McClain, just like we did with Haloti (Ngata), 'Sizzle,' (Terrell Suggs), 'J.J.' (Jarret Johnson), Marshal (Yanda) – and many more through the years."
Webb started 15 out of 16 games last season. He recorded a career-high five interceptions and returned a punt for a touchdown.
The Ravens committed themselves to a youth movement at cornerback this offseason when they did not make a push to re-sign seven-year veteran Chris Carr. Carr is signing a deal with the Minnesota Vikings, a league source told NFL Network insider Jason La Canfora on Wednesday.
