The way San Francisco 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh figures, if it worked once, do it again.
Harbaugh said Wednesday he is considering keeping the team in Youngstown, Ohio, for a week of practices between road games next season against the Minnesota Vikings on Sept. 23 and New York Jets one week later.
ATL: Faith in Kyle Williams?
Trent Baalke says the 49ers aren't down on Kyle Williams, but the draft will say much more about that, writes Dan Hanzus. **More...**
Last season, the team stayed in Youngstown between victories at Cincinnati and Philadelphia -- a trip that seemed to galvanize the team.
"The positive thing: We took some of the miles out of our travel," Harbaugh said. "The downside: The guys are away from their families for 10 days instead of four days."
Harbaugh said he would not make the decision unilaterally.
"I'd like to get a straw vote from our players -- get their opinions and see how they feel about it," he said. "We did it last year and we were successful doing it, and we may not want to mess with a winning streak. But I want to get the players' feedback on it before I make a decision."
Harbaugh said if the 49ers decide against returning home to the Bay Area after the game at Minnesota, Youngstown would almost certainly be chosen as their home away from home.
"Youngstown makes a lot of sense again," Harbaugh said. "We got treated well there last year."
