Burress would welcome role with Palmer-led Raiders

Plaxico Burress made our list of best available free-agent wide receivers, but so far, 32 NFL teams don't agree he's worth adding to the roster.

The phone isn't ringing at the Burress household, so the 34-year-old wideout has used this offseason to periodically emerge and declare his interest in playing again. This week, Burress talked about the Oakland Raiders as a potential landing spot:

Brandt: Diamonds in the rough

When the draft ends, a race to sign undrafted prospects begins. Which teams fared best? Gil Brandt gives his top 11 classes. **More ...**

"I've always thought that Carson Palmer has been one of the best deep-ball throwers in all of football since I can remember," Burress told SiriusXM NFL Radio on Thursday, via Comcast SportsNet Bay Area. "They do have some great talent over there in Darrius Heyward-Bey and Louis Murphy. I think those guys are only going to get better with Carson."

Burress accounted for 612 yards and eight touchdowns with the Jets last season. He might improve on those numbers with the help of a big-armed passer such as Palmer. The Raiders, however, have shown no interest.

Burress has talked about his desire to pair with Michael Vick in Philadelphia and mentioned the Cleveland Brownsas another possible target. We wouldn't be surprised if some injury-strapped team takes a flier on Burress later this summer. For now, he's making the rounds, praising quarterbacks and hoping for one more contract.
