Terrell Suggs continues to zero in on his return to the field. Amid questions whether that will happen this season, the All-Pro linebacker left little mystery on Thursday about his intentions.
"I will be in a Baltimore Ravens uniform in 2012," Suggs told reporters. "The only question is when."
Suggs, 29, met with the media free from the crutches he ditched earlier this week. Suggs made his way to a microphone wearing a dense (seemingly RoboCop-inspired) walking boot on his right foot, protecting the partially torn Achilles' tendon he injured in April.
The reigning Defensive Player of the Year could hit the field sooner than most players who suffer a torn Achilles because of a new procedure that uses a smaller incision.
Suggs again denied reports he was hurt playing basketball at a gym in Glendale, Ariz. "I didn't get hurt doing it. That's not what happened," he said, before addressing Herman Hoffman, the gym director who told ESPN that basketball was the culprit.
"That's why he decided to be a gym director and not a doctor," Suggs said. "You kinda gotta laugh those things off."
The Ravens have publicly stated they don't care how Suggs was hurt. He maintains the injury happened during a conditioning drill.
"Y'all that know me -- know what I said is exactly what happens," Suggs said.
