Randy Moss in line to start for San Francisco 49ers

When the Randy Moss experiment started in San Francisco, we were skeptical it could work. Simply making the team looked far from guaranteed.

We won't admit defeat on this one yet, but he's done everything possible to ensure a roster spot so far. Matt Maiocco of Comcast SportsNet Bay Area writes that Moss and Michael Crabtree will enter 49ers training camp as starting wide receivers.

It's important to remember there hasn't been any tackling in practice. There hasn't been any press coverage either, which gives Moss problems. It's barely been football. But Maiocco is the most trusted voice on the 49ers out there. If he says Moss is headed for a starting job, we're not going to argue. The praise from Moss' teammates has been over the toppositive.

The 49ers' wideout group looks very deep. Mario Manningham appears to be No. 3 on the depth chart. Kyle Williams is battling for playing time, and Ted Ginn figures to make the team as a receiver. First-round draft pick A.J. Jenkinsmight not make much of an impact as a rookie.
