New Orleans Saints coach Sean Payton is in the middle of a stretch that already includes a season-long suspension from the NFL. He now has a divorce to deal with, too.
The Times-Picayune reported Monday that Payton filed for divorce from his wife, Beth, on June 14, citing a Tarrant County, Texas, court petition that the newspaper posted on its website.
The filings appear to have been written to protect the identities of the parties involved. According to The Times-Picayune, the petition involves two residents of Tarrant County with the initials of Sean Payton (PSP) and Beth Payton (BAP). The petition also includes the date on which the Paytons were married and the birth dates of the couple's two children. The name of the computer file containing the petition includes the word "Payton."
According to the petition, the divorce is on the grounds of "discord or conflict of personalities between petitioner and respondent that destroys the legitimate ends of the marriage relationship and prevents any reasonable expectation of reconciliation."
The Paytons were set to celebrate their 20th anniversary July 11.
