Rex Ryan might not be ultimately blamed for what the New York Jets failed to accomplish on offense this season, but he remains culpable for their wildly botched Tim Tebow Experiment.
Sunday's 28-9 loss to the Buffalo Bills marked the end of the Jets' season and another silent afternoon for Tebow, who shuffled onto the field for only one snap in the defeat.
Quarterback Mark Sanchez struggled again -- perhaps for the last time in Jets green -- but Ryan told reporters he never considered putting Tebow under center.
"No, I made the decision. It was my decision to stay with Sanchez," Ryan said. "I was the only one who made that decision. It's on me, and obviously it didn't work out the way I wanted it to."
Ryan spun the same broken record he has played for the media all season, saying he believed Sanchez "gave us the best chance to win."
"If I thought Tebow would have helped us win the game playing quarterback or defensive tackle," Ryan said, "I would have played him."
It has been clear for months that the Jets possess zero faith in Tebow. New York never figured out how to use him, and it never will. The on-field portion of this humiliating sideshow finally -- mercifully -- has ended.
