Another ugly Sunday for the Kansas City Chiefs came with a significant silver lining: They will pick first in the 2013 NFL Draft.
The Chiefs finished the season 2-14, marking the second time in five years they have put up that ghastly record. The Jacksonville Jaguars had the same mark but possess a better strength of schedule, giving the Chiefs the top pick.
When the Chiefs went 2-14 in 2008, they selected defensive end Tyson Jackson with the No. 3 overall pick. Jackson has five sacks in four seasons.
Kansas City hopes for better success this time around, but who will be the decision-makers? Both coach Romeo Crennel and general manager Scott Pioli could be history by Monday. If Pioli goes, his replacement will be tasked with a massive decision out of the gate.
The Chiefs have multiple holes to fill on both sides of the ball, but their most glaring issue is quarterback. Matt Cassel and Brady Quinn are not the answer and probably won't be back. The quarterback issue stands above all else.
Meanwhile, Chiefs fans will try to ignore the fact they missed out on Andrew Luck or Robert Griffin III by one year. Sorry, guys.
