Rob Ryan said he'd be out of work for "like five minutes" when he was fired by the Dallas Cowboys. Five minutes stretched to 16 days, but Ryan appears to be back on the job.
Ryan has an agreement with the St. Louis Rams to become their defensive coordinator, a source close to the coach told NFL.com's Ian Rapoport. The same source told Rapoport the deal will happen.
ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Thursday that Ryan has been hired as the team's new defensive coordinator.
Ryan has been an NFL defensive coordinator with the Oakland Raiders, Cleveland Browns and Cowboys since 2004.
Cowboys coach Jason Garrett said Ryan was fired because of a lack of turnovers by his unit. The Cowboys had just 16 turnovers to tie for the fourth-fewest in the NFL.
The Rams have a promising defense with one of the best cornerback pairings in the NFL -- Cortland Finnegan and Janoris Jenkins. St. Louis also led the league with 52 sacks.
