AAC teams have a combined three non-conference games remaining, and none this week, so get ready for a lot of league games between teams that aren't really that good.
Louisville has a lot of talent and the potential to go unbeaten. Central Florida is a solid team and looks to be the only remaining impediment between Louisville and an unbeaten season. But going unbeaten in the AAC isn't really going to impress anyone. Just take a gander at this week's games for proof.
Here is a look at all the games involving league teams this week:
4. Cincinnati at South Florida, Saturday, 7 p.m. ET
Rating: 1 star
The skinny: USF is pitiful offensively, though senior TB Marcus Shaw (5-foot-9, 178 pounds) has three 100-yard games. Touted USF sophomore DE Aaron Lynch (6-6, 244), a Notre Dame transfer, has yet to really do anything this season, and Cincinnati junior Eric Lefeld (6-6, 309) looks to become the latest offensive tackle to stymie Lynch. Cincinnati senior LB Greg Blair (6-2, 252) hasn't been as productive as expected.
3. Louisville at Temple, Saturday, 12 p.m. ET, AAC syndication/ESPN GamePlan
Rating: 1 star
The skinny: Temple is coming off a loss to Idaho. To expect them to even stay close in this one seems a bit much to ask. Louisville QB Teddy Bridgewater should torch the Owls' secondary. Junior WR Devante Parker already has six TD receptions and could get a couple of more.
2. Central Florida at Memphis, Saturday, 4:30 p.m. ET
Rating: 1.5 stars
The skinny: Memphis junior DE Martin Ifedi (6-3, 265) has 5.5 sacks in three games. UCF's line kept South Carolina's Jadeveon Clowney from creating havoc last week and will look to do the same against Ifedi. UCF junior QB Blake Bortles (6-4, 230) threw for a career-high 358 yards against South Carolina and continues to move up draft boards.
1. Rutgers at SMU, Saturday, 12 p.m. ET, ESPN news
Rating: 2 stars
The skinny: When this is the best game in the league, you know it's a bad week. Rutgers is without leading rusher Paul James, who is injured. The Scarlet Knights' passing attack has been more productive than expected, with four players who have at least 10 receptions through three games. Junior WR Brandon Coleman (6-6, 220) still is looking for his breakout game this season. SMU senior QB Garrett Gilbert (6-4, 223) is eighth nationally in passing at 322.8 yards per game, but he still makes too many head-scratchingly bad decisions and has thrown more interceptions (five) than TD passes (four). SMU standout senior CB Kenneth Acker (6-0, 195) has six pass breakups and should be a busy man against Rutgers' receivers.
