Here are the top SEC games in Week 7, ranked from the worst game to the best.
7. Western Carolina at Auburn, Saturday, 2 p.m. ET, Pay-Per-View
Rating: 1.5 stars
The skinny: A non-conference cupcake of the highest order, the Catamounts don't figure to offer any resistence as a team, and even a worthwhile head-to-head matchup may be tough to find. The strongest possibility: senior WCU receiver Karnorris Benson (18 yards per catch, six touchdowns) against Auburn cornerbacks Ryan White and Jonathon Mincy. Another to look for is Auburn pass rusher Dee Ford, who is steadily improving off an early-season knee injury.
6. Bowling Green at Mississippi State, Saturday, 7:30 p.m. ET, FSN
Rating: 1.5 stars
The skinny: Bowling Green senior strong safety Jerry Gates (5-11, 215) will be the top NFL prospect on the underdog lineup card, and the Bulldogs' offense puts a lot of pressure on that position. Gates may draw some responsibility on MSU running back LaDarius Perkins on pass plays and may also have to chase mobile quarterback Dak Prescott around. Bulldogs guard Gabe Jackson, the top NFL prospect on either sideline, figures to have another field day in the trenches.
5. South Carolina at Arkansas, Saturday, 12:21 p.m. ET, SEC TV
Rating: 2 stars
The skinny:Will Jadeveon Clowney play? Will Steve Spurrier care? The nation's top defensive prospect will have a lot of NFL eyes on him a week after drawing criticism for sitting out a game on short notice. And if he plays, will he be ready to play smashmouth football? The Razorbacks will not throw enough to give him two or three sacks. They'll run right at him and test his mettle, down after down. South Carolina defensive tackle Kelcy Quarles and Arkansas center Travis Swanson should be a good matchup to watch. Another: South Carolina receiver Bruce Ellington against Arkansas cornerback Tevin Mitchell, two late-round draft possibilities.
4. Alabama at Kentucky, Saturday, 7 p.m. ET, ESPN2
Rating: 2.5 stars
The skinny: Top prospect matchups here include Alabama left tackle Cyrus Kouandjio, whose play has been inconsistent at times this season, against Kentucky defensive end Za'Darius Smith, who has 4.5 sacks already. UK middle linebacker Avery Williamson is a solid draft prospect who gets a chance to battle another in Alabama guard Anthony Steen. Is this finally the game where Alabama star sophomore receiver Amari Cooper breaks loose? He has just 100 receiving yards this season.
3. Missouri at Georgia, Saturday, 12 p.m. ET, ESPN
Rating: 2.5 stars
The skinny: Georgia's Aaron Murray has gone head to head with some very talented quarterbacks this season, and Missouri's James Franklin will be another. Franklin is enjoying a strong senior season and has a pair of huge receivers on the edges to make things easier. One of those, Dorial Green-Beckham, is a future NFL player at 6-6, 225 pounds. Georgia's best cornerback prospect, Damian Swann, at just 5-11, will have his hands full with Green-Beckham. Georgia's interior offensive line gets a test from Tigers defensive tackle Kony Ealy, who is Missouri's top defensive prospect. Star Georgia running back Todd Gurley is questionable to play with an ankle sprain.
2. Texas A&M at Ole Miss, Saturday, 8:30 p.m. ET, ESPN
Rating: 3 stars
The skinny: For pure offensive fireworks, this may be the most fast-paced game of the SEC season. Both teams run hurry-up, no-huddle offenses and have the talent to do quick damage. Both defenses have struggled, particularly Texas A&M's. Top prospect matchups include Aggies quarterback Johnny Manziel against Rebels linebacker Denzel Nkemdiche, a strong open-field tackler who will be heavily counted on when Manziel runs. Ole Miss defensive end C.J. Johnson against either left tackle Jake Matthews or right tackle Cedric Ogbuehi, should be an NFL futures battle. The game also features two of the college game's top receiver prospects in Mike Evans of A&M and Donte Moncrief of Ole Miss.
1. Florida at LSU, Saturday, 3:30 p.m. ET, CBS
Rating: 4 stars
The skinny: For sheer NFL talent on a college field, this might be the top game of the week in the nation, not just in the SEC. In years past, the best battles to watch would be with Florida's offense against LSU's defense, but this season, that's reversed. Florida has NFL talent on all three defensive units, particularly at cornerback, where Marcus Roberson, Loucheiz Purifoy and star freshman Vernon Hargreaves will square off with two explosive junior receivers in LSU's Odell Beckham Jr. and Jarvis Landry. NFL-bound quarterback Zach Mettenberger will be trying to get them the ball before one of the SEC's most talented pass rushes reaches him, led by linebacker Dante Fowler. And, oh yeah, LSU left tackle La'El Collins is another future NFL player who will be pass-protecting against Fowler. You want more? Watch LSU weakside linebacker Lamin Barrow, along with defensive tackle Anthony Johnson, working against Florida's offensive line, particularly guard Jon Halapio and center Jonotthon Harrison.
