While FSU seems to have the Atlantic Division title in hand, the Coastal race remains an interesting one. Duke-Pitt, Georgia Tech-Virginia and Miami-North Carolina are important division games this week.
1. Florida State (8-0, 5-0 in ACC)
Up next: vs. Virginia, Saturday, Nov. 8
The skinny: The Seminoles lived dangerously in their win over Louisville, but an undefeated regular season appears likely after escaping a shaky one.
2. Clemson (6-2, 5-1)
Up next: at Wake Forest, Thursday, Nov. 6
The skinny: The offense just isn't that good without injured QB Deshaun Watson. There are two bits of good news: He should be back by mid-November, and the Tigers could put a mannequin at quarterback and still beat Wake next week.
3. Duke (6-1, 2-1)
Up next: at Pitt, Saturday, Nov. 1
The skinny: Underrated stat: Duke QB Anthony Boone is 16-3 as a starter, including 16-1 in the regular season.
4. Louisville (6-3, 4-3)
Up next: at Boston College, Saturday, Nov. 8
The skinny: The Cardinalslet one get away against Florida State and still have some big obstacles ahead with a trip to Notre Dame up next after Boston College.
5. Georgia Tech (6-2, 3-2)
Up next: vs. Virginia, Saturday, Nov. 1
The skinny: Think of this as an elimination game in the Coastal Division race. Tech beat the Cavs by 10 last season despite committing five turnovers.
6. Miami (5-3, 2-2)
Up next: vs. North Carolina, Saturday, Nov. 1
The skinny: If Miami has any designs on winning the Coastal Division title, the Hurricanes need to beat UNC. Miami closes the regular season with three of its final four games at home.
7. North Carolina (4-4, 2-2)
Up next: at Miami, Saturday, Nov. 1
The skinny: UNC's potent offense gives it a chance in almost every game. Unfortunately, its porous defense gives the other team a chance in almost every game.
8. Virginia (4-4, 2-2)
Up next: at Georgia Tech, Saturday, Nov. 1
The skinny: The run defense has been good all season; it needs to be great Saturday if Virginia is to have any shot at a win.
9. Pittsburgh (4-4, 2-2)
Up next: vs. Duke, Saturday, Nov. 1
The skinny: Pitt can garner itself some goodwill from its Coastal Division brethren if it can beat the Blue Devils, who lead the division.
10. Virginia Tech (4-4, 1-3)
Up next: vs. Boston College, Saturday, Nov. 1
The skinny: The Hokies are in danger of suffering through their first losing season since 1992. This already is their third consecutive season with at least four losses -- the longest such streak since 2001-03.
11. Boston College (5-3, 2-2)
Up next: at Virginia Tech, Saturday, Nov. 1
The skinny: Tyler Murphy is the nation's leading rusher among quarterbacks, with 843 yards in eight games. But his passing remains poor.
12. North Carolina State (4-4, 0-4)
Up next: at Syracuse, Saturday, Nov. 1
The skinny: The Wolfpack have lost four in a row and must find a way to revitalize the offense. They have averaged just 241 yards of offense in their past three games.
13. Syracuse (3-5, 1-3)
Up next: vs. North Carolina State, Saturday, Nov. 1
The skinny: Any chance at a bowl requires a win against the Wolfpack. The Orange have scored just 62 points in conference games -- and 30 came against Wake Forest.
14. Wake Forest (2-6, 0-4)
Up next: vs. Clemson, Thursday, Nov. 6
The skinny: The Demon Deacons are last nationally in total offense at just 213.5 yards per game. That is 36 yards fewer per game than any other team.
