Colts sign 31st-overall pick Hughes to five-year deal

INDIANAPOLIS -- The Indianapolis Colts have agreed to a five-year deal with first-round draft pick Jerry Hughes.

The rookie defensive end missed the Colts' first training camp practice Monday morning while negotiations continued, but coach Jim Caldwell said he expected Hughes to join the afternoon session.

Hughes' agent confirmed the deal through an e-mail to The Associated Press.

The Indianapolis Star reported that Hughes' deal is worth over $12 million.

Hughes was the only Colts player who did not attend Monday morning's practice.
