Robert Griffin III continues to deliver on the microphone.
When RG3 met with reporters Sunday, the Washington Redskins' future star was pelted with questions about the team's other rookie quarterback, Kirk Cousins. Nobody hinted at a quarterback controversy (a notion that coach Mike Shanahan swiftly put to bed), but everyone wanted to know how RG3 felt about the team grabbing Cousins just three rounds after he was taken with the second overall pick.
"I already knew when I got here," RG3 said, explaining that Shanahan sat him down and shared the team's plans to draft a second quarterback, comparing it to the pairing of John Elway and Gary Kubiak during the coach's time with the Denver Broncos.
Let's make one thing clear: RG3 and Cousins aren't squabbling -- quite the opposite. They're roomies at minicamp.
"We ate a burrito together," RG3 said, before pausing to clarify: "Not the same burrito."
RG3's first impression of the former Michigan State quarterback? "Quiet, but we're good. (We) went over the playbook together. There's no issues there. ... Kirk's trying to make this team just like I'm trying to make this team."
The media has gushed over Andrew Luck's cool-under-fire act at Indianapolis Colts rookie minicamp, but RG3 is every bit as confident and at ease with himself. Asked to comment about a teammate he's competing with, he found a way to lift up Cousins, something not every young player does with ease.
There's been chatter suggesting that when quarterbacks go first and second in the draft, one is bound to bust. We don't see that happening this time around.
