The New York Jets have agreed to terms with third-round linebacker Demario Davis, Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News reports.

Financial terms of the four-year deal were not disclosed. However, as the 77th overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, Davis is believed to have received a signing bonus worth $613,800.
A three-year starter at Arkansas State, the 6-foot-2, 235-pound Davis finished his 48-game career with 229 tackles, including 22.5 for a loss, and seven sacks, with four interceptions, five forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries. Davis scored two touchdowns during his career with the Red Devils, where he was first-team All-Sun Belt Conference in 2011. Davis ran a 4.61 in the 40 and ranked second among linebackers at the combine with 32 reps on the bench press, a 38 1/2" vertical jump and 10'4" broad jump. Davis followed up that performance with a 4.52 in the 40 at his pro day on March 27.
Last month, Jets head coach Rex Ryan compared Davis to Ray Lewis, who Ryan coached with the Baltimore Ravens, and expects the rookie to be a "major contributor" in his first season. Davis' speed and athleticism could give him a regular role in nickel packages on passing downs.
