You never know when a player leaves a preseason game whether or not they suffered a serious injury. The comments from the head coach after the game are usually your first big clue.
Based on Green Bay Packers coach Mike McCarthy's comments on linebacker Desmond Bishop, Green Bay is going to need another inside linebacker for a little while.
As mentioned in our big recap of Thursday night's action, Bishop left the game against the San Diego Chargers with a knee sprain and possible hamstring injury.
"Desmond's injury didn't look very good," McCarthy said. "Hopefully, we'll get some good news as testing goes on. But talking to doctor (Patrick) McKenzie, it's up in the air."
Bishop told teammates he was hopeful it wasn't a season-ending injury. The fact that's in the discussion is not a great sign. Bishop is the Packers' best inside linebacker. D.J. Smith would likely step up next to A.J. Hawk if Bishop was out. Hawk would have to play more passing downs.
"They wouldn't want that," one scout told the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel.
Cornerback Davon House also suffered what appeared to be a serious shoulder injury.

It is feared that Bishop could be out for a big portion of the season, if not the entire season.
