Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson appears to have been removed from the active/physically unable to perform list, as Judd Zulgad of 1500 ESPN Twin Cities reports Peterson was taking first-team reps during the Vikings' walkthrough practice Sunday.

On Saturday, Vikings head coach Leslie Frazier said he and his staff planned to discuss activating Peterson from the PUP list prior to today's practice. By activating Peterson, the Vikings no longer have the option of saving a roster spot by placing the perennial Pro Bowl player on the PUP list to start the regular season.
Though Peterson is expected to receive limited, if any, snaps during preseason action, Sunday's transaction is a clear signal that Peterson could very well achieve his goal of playing in the team's regular-season opener against the Jacksonville Jaguars on September 9.
Peterson is less than nine months removed from surgery to repair a torn ACL in his left knee.
UPDATE: Peterson tweeted after practice that he was grateful for being on the field with the Vikings.
