Bid farewell, ladies and gentlemen, to tight end/accountant Les Brown.
If you've been following HBO's "Hard Knocks," you're familiar with the patchwork group of tight ends struggling to make the final cut with the Miami Dolphins.
Brown was a long shot from the start, but a lovable one. He was released Saturday, along with eight other players, the team announced.
"I thought he made a lot of progress and came a long way in a relatively short period of time," Dolphins coach Joe Philbin told the South Florida Sun Sentinel. "I just didn't think it was going to work out for him."
If it weren't for the HBO documentary series, Brown would stand as an anonymous castoff, but the former college basketball player was heavily featured in the show's first three episodes. We'll remember his ugly blocking, his delightful lady friend and his affinity for the Florida swamplands.
Before his stint in Miami, Brown paid the bills as a numbers cruncher for a private equity firm in Florida. Less exciting -- and less likely to be the subject of a cable TV series discussed on this website -- but a solid, if vanilla, Plan B.
