But if you're looking for one strong indication that Peterson will be on the field to make his triumphant return after suffering a torn anterior cruciate ligament last December, here it is: The Vikings plan to announce their offense over the public-address system to the fans at Mall of American Field.
Would they do that if Peterson wasn't going to be there to receive the thunderous ovation?
"We'll definitely have an answer on Sunday, one way or another," coach Leslie Frazier deadpanned Friday.
In addition, Peterson has informed the coaches that he fully plans on playing, and he has been convincing and positive about his rehab throughout. If Peterson does follow through on the plan to play, it's not clear how much he'll be on the field.
He'll be evaluated on a series-by-series basis to gauge his readiness and effectiveness.
