Ty Warren's mind is willing. His body seems to be sending him a different message.
Denver Broncos coach John Fox announced Monday that Warren re-tore his triceps tendon in Sunday's 31-19 season-opening win over the Pittsburgh Steelers. It is likely a season-ending injury.
Warren sat out the 2011 season after tearing his triceps in training camp. In 2010, he missed his final season with the New England Patriots after hip surgery.
Warren spent the first seven seasons of his career with the Patriots, where he won two Super Bowl rings. Warren has totaled 374 tackles, 20.5 sacks, four forced fumbles and six fumble recoveries in 106 career games.
The Broncos have gotten almost nothing for their investment in Warren. The 31-year-old originally signed to a two-year, $8 million contract prior to the 2011 season. Warren took a paycut when the deal was restructured in June, but will still earn $1.5 million this season.
The Patriots moved on mainly because they believed his body was failing. John Elway ignored the warning signs and ultimately paid the price.
