Chicago Bears running back Matt Forte, finally healthy, looked fantastic in last weekend's season opener against the Indianapolis Colts. His good health didn't last long.
Forte left Thursday night's 23-10 loss to the Green Bay Packers in the third quarter with an ankle injury. NFL Network's Alex Flanagan reported Forte underwent an X-ray during the game. Results aren't yet known, but Forte was quickly ruled out for the game after initially being listed as doubtful. That's never a good sign.
Forte rushed for 31 yards on seven carries and caught four passes for 49 yards before leaving the game.
If nothing else, the Bears are well prepared for this moment. They signed Michael Bush in the offseason, and he has run effectively early in the season.
The Bears just hope they won't have to rely on Bush for too long.
