The New York Giants return to practice Wednesday in preparation for Sunday's home game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. It will be a bid to return to normalcy, but many players and coaches who live in the area are dealing with the aftermath of Superstorm Sandy.
Giants quarterback Eli Manning is one of the players living in Hoboken, N.J., which was hit particularly hard. In the small city alone, 20,000 people are stranded. A reported 90 percent of Long Island is without power. The Jersey Shore is decimated.
News stations in New York continue to show the streets of Hoboken, which look like an apocalyptic New Jersey version of Venice. Many of the streets remain heavily flooded, and residents can't leave their apartments. This image of a fleet of taxis underwater gives an interesting picture.
I live on the east side of lower Manhattan, which is completely out of power under 39th Street. It looks like we will stay out of power for a while. Thankfully, the NFL headquarters is located at 51st, so I have a place to go to write posts and charge my batteries at the same time. It's the little things.
