Percy Harvin called himself a "long shot" to play this week against the Detroit Lions after an ankle sprain put him on crutches.
So, it's no surprise he was held from practice Wednesday.
Smart fantasy owners already have started to plan for a week without the dynamic Minnesota Vikings receiver.
Crutches on Monday rarely equals playing six days later.
Vikings coach Leslie Frazier said Harvin has made progress and called him day to day. But that was a nasty ankle injury and Harvin's entire game is built around quick cuts and being able to push off and change direction.
The Vikings have played better than expected in 2012, and much of that can be credited with Harvin having a career year. They would love to have him available with NFC North rival Detroit coming to the Metrodome, but is the risk worth it?
We'll be shocked if Harvin takes the field Sunday.
