Shaun Cody reportedly has punctured lung for Texans

Houston Texans nose tackle Shaun Cody suffered broken ribs and a punctured lung during last week's win over the Buffalo Bills last week.

A source told Houston Chronicle reporter Tania Ganguli that Cody's injury is worse than first thought.

Texans coach Gary Kubiak called Cody day to day Monday, and the lineman was scheduled for an MRI on Tuesday.

"Shaun has always been able to work through things," Kubiak said Wednesday. "We're 100 percent committed to the training room."

Can the training room help a punctured lung, though?

Busted ribs already are painful enough. Players have been sidelined with bruised ribs, let alone broken ones. You can't hide messed-up ribs. You can either handle the pain, or you can't. A punctured lung seems worse.

But Cody returned to finish the game against the Bills, so anything's possible.
