Reggie Bush apologizes to Miami Dolphins fans

Reggie Bush is taking Sunday's ugly 37-3 loss to the Tennessee Titans personally. He's also accepting the blame.

The Miami Dolphins running back sought forgiveness from the fans after he was benched for a first-quarter fumble.

"I have to apologize to Dolphin Nation," Bush tweeted after the game, "my performance these past few weeks has been poor & I'm embarrassed right now! You guys deserve better."

Coach Joe Philbin pulled Bush out of the game with more than 20 minutes remaining in the first half. Bush told The Miami Herald the benching was fair.

"I didn't deserve to be back in there," Bush said. "I fumbled the ball and I've had two fumbles lost this year. I have to do a better job of protecting the ball. I've been in this league long enough to know protecting the ball is the most important thing as a running back."

Bush wasn't the only Dolphins player disgusted with how Sunday unfolded: "I'm embarrassed by the way we played," rookie quarterback Ryan Tannehill told The Palm Beach Post.

Bush returned in the second half, but his only carry was erased and he also dropped a pass. He finished with just 21 yards on four carries.

His best play of the day was his level-headed response to a bad game.
