Shonn Greene softens Mark Sanchez-Tim Tebow comments

A source close to Shonn Greene, who spoke with the New York Jets running back overnight, said he wasn't advocating for a quarterback change in remarks he made to Yahoo! Sports on Wednesday.

Darlington: Tebow the Terrible

The Jets are stunned Tim Tebow isn't a good practice player? Should have done their homework, Jeff Darlington says. **More ...**

Greene seemed to suggest in the article that starting quarterback Mark Sanchez should be replaced by backup Tim Tebow.

"You feel bad for Mark, but at the same time, you want to win games," Greene said. "We're not here to protect people's feelings. If you want to win games, you've got to try something."

The source said Greene wasn't suggesting any specific personnel changes. Instead, according to the source, the "change" Greene meant is that the Jets need to start winning instead of losing.

Jets coach Rex Ryan addressed the issue Thursday, saying he'll "let him (Greene) handle it."

Greene addressed his remarks later Thursday, telling reporters, "I said nothing about Tebow needs to be a starting quarterback."
