Pierre Garcon had a slip of the tongue when discussing the Washington Redskins' quarterback situation Tuesday morning. He may have broken some news, the Washington Times reported.
"Now we have a little bit tougher task; we have Kirk (Cousins) starting," Garcon said during a SportsCenter appearance on ESPN. "We have to play well around Kirk so Kirk doesn't feel like he has to try to save the team. We have to help him to be as comfortable as possible."
Coach Mike Shanahan was emphatic Monday that Robert Griffin III hadn't been ruled out of Sunday's game with a Grade 1 lateral collateral ligament sprain. Garcon quickly clarified himself when reminded Griffin isn't officially out.
"We have to prepare for the worst," Garcon said.
Not to go all C&C Music Factory, but hhmmmnn... Garcon sure sounded confident in his words before ESPN anchor Bram Weinstein gave him the reminder. Even then, Garcon grinned as he talked about preparing for the worse.
Seems like Garcon knows something.
The Washington Post cited a source who contended no decision has been made on RG3's status and team officials had no idea why Garcon made those comments.
UPDATE:Griffin's father told USA Today on Tuesday that his son would "definitely" start against the Browns.
