Matt Forte exits Chicago Bears' win with ankle injury

The Chicago Bears have regained confidence Sunday by beating up on the Arizona Cardinals 28-13, but now they've lost running back Matt Forte.

Forte exited the game in the third quarter after re-injuring his troublesome right ankle at the end of a run. Forte was taped up and appeared to be fighting to return to the game, but the Bears weren't taking any chances with a 28-6 lead.

Forte walked to the Bears' locker room with trainers. An announcement that he was done for the game soon followed, and Forte wore a walking boot on his right foot after the game.

"It is not the worst that I have ever felt, but it is the third time (I've hurt the ankle)," Forte told Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune. "So, it's just getting a little aggravating."

Forte also said he'd play in next week's must-win game against the Detroit Lions. The Bears (9-6) need to win that game and have the NFC North rival Minnesota Vikings lose to the Green Bay Packers to make the playoffs.

Forte is just 9 yards shy of his third 1,000-yard rushing season. Before going out, he had 95 total yards and one touchdown.
