Percy Harvin's relationship with the Minnesota Vikings already is on shaky ground -- and it could get worse soon.
Instant Debate: Best available star?
With trade rumors swirling and free agency looming, who is the best player available? Disgruntled Viking Percy Harvin? **More ...**
Pro Football Talk reported Monday that Harvin is expected to "stay away" from offseason workouts and training camp if the Vikings don't give him a contract extension.
Harvin is scheduled to make $2.9 million in the final year of his rookie contract. Harvin knows his value, and he's well aware Vincent Jackson -- the top wide receiver on the market last offseason -- signed a five-year, $55.5 million deal with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last March.
It was reported Sunday that the Vikings were planning to actively shop Harvin, who has clashed with coach Leslie Frazier and others since becoming the team's first-round draft pick in 2009. If Harvin plans a holdout, it could give the Vikings more incentive to send him far, far away.
Which, of course, might be exactly what he wants.
