The Dallas Cowboys aren't going to let Anthony Spencer get away.
Spencer's agent, Jordan Woy, tweeted Monday that the Cowboys will use their franchise tag on Spencer for the second consecutive year. Woy said the sides will "work on a long-term deal." The team announced the move later that day.

This marks the second consecutive season Dallas has used its tag on Spencer, coming off a season in which he finished with a career-high 11 sacks and 95 tackles in 14 games. In getting tagged in consecutive years, Spencer is guaranteed a one-year salary of $10.63 million if the sides don't reach a multiyear agreement.
The Cowboys cleared the path for Spencer earlier Monday by releasing safety Gerald Sensabaugh, a move that saved $1.4 million in salary-cap room.
Spencer will move from outside linebacker to defensive end as Dallas switches from the 3-4 to 4-3 under new defensive coordinator Monte Kiffin. With Spencer paired with a healthy DeMarcus Ware on the right side, the Cowboys are set up well in their base rushing scheme.
