The veteran wide receiver was due a $2.425 million roster bonus this month, a price the Vikings had no interest in paying.
In 16 games (eight starts), Jenkins finished with 40 catches for 449 yards and two touchdowns. He had three catches for 96 yards and one touchdown in the Vikings' playoff loss to the Green Bay Packers.
Jenkins, 30, spent his first seven seasons with the Atlanta Falcons before joining the Vikings before the 2011 season.
The Vikings' decision to cut ties with Jenkins provides further evidence that Minnesota will prioritize adding new playmakers around quarterback Christian Ponder this spring.
